HVCC’s 5-Star PTK Chapter Continues to Grow

For the third year in a row, the Alpha Xi Sigma chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at HVCC has earned five-star status, the highest rating for community college chapters throughout the international organization. The campus chapter continues to have a strong emphasis on leadership and community service, earning recognition for volunteerism, participation in campus and district activities, and nominations for awards among the PTK members and leaders.

2024 saw record growth in membership and students striving for excellence in their educational pursuits continue to help grow the local organization. This spring, the HVCC Alpha Xi Sigma chapter recently invited more than 950 eligible students to join with the hundreds of other students and alumni who have achieved academic distinction.

PTK is the largest honor society in higher education, serving nearly 1,300 community colleges in all 50 states and nine countries. It recognizes academic excellence and provides growth opportunities for college students, including community service initiatives and professional development courses. Members, who must maintain a 3.5 grade point average, have access to numerous events, scholarships and resources through the organization.
